Stylish singer Solange Knowles was recently spotted leaving Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s NYC apartment and hopping into a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon (picture below).
In case you didn’t know, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class was originally developed for military use back in the 1970s as a heavy duty four-wheel-drive vehicle, but it has been updated over the decades and given as many luxuries, conveniences, and refinements as possible.
Not that there’s any denying the G’s utilitarian roots: At nearly 3 tons, describing it as a leather-lined, rolling bank vault would be a fairly apt description. For example, it’s tall with a healthy step-in height, its doors close with a reassuring clunk, and its heft reduces fuel economy.
So, is it practical? Not really. Capable? Definitely. Desirable? Oddly, yes. As such, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class might not be the best choice for a single vehicle household but, if you’ve got a multi-car setup, with room for a variety of cars, the G-Class is one cool, super-truck to add to your fleet. Looks like Solange already got the memo.
