The word is out—GM is back! At the prestigious North American Car and Truck of the Year awards during the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, General Motors swept the event!
The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray landed the car award while the Chevy Silverado 1500 grabbed the truck honors.
Other competitors in the car category were the Cadillac CTS and the new Mazda3. In the truck category, the new Jeep Cherokee and the Acura MDX SUV were up against the Silverado, which has won the North American Truck of the Year twice. The Chevrolet Corvette has also won twice.
The North American Car and Truck of the Year (a program that is not officially affiliated with the North American International Auto Show) are chosen by a jury of 48 automotive journalists from the U.S. and Canada.
Despite the win, GM recently announced it was recalling 370,000 Silverados (and GMC Sierra pickups) for possible fire issues in the exhaust system.
