The good folks at GypsyJaunt.com invited SimplyRides to be part of a last minute ski trip to Hunter Mountain in upstate New York– and what better car to choose for such trip than the 2016 Kia Sorento (i.e. “the perfect getaway vehicle”)??
Let’s start from the beginning. So, the NY state department of tourism organized a ski trip for the Eagle Academy Foundation— a Harlem-based nonprofit that “empowers at-risk inner city young men to become academic achievers, engaged citizens, and responsible men.” Many of these youths have never been skiing before and it was a great opportunity for them to be exposed to something new. The owners of Hunter Mountain Ski Lodge even provided the children with free ski lessons! And, boy, did those kids learn fast!
In support of this altruistic outing, GypsyJaunt gathered a few bloggers and friends for a girlfriends road trip to document the occasion and have some fun hitting the slopes too. The roundup included SimplyRides, BlackTravelSnob, Erica Solano, Esnavi … and, of course, the 2016 Kia Sorento in Remington Red. There was plenty of space for five adults, lots of sunshine via the super-long panoramic sunroof and, perhaps most important for a long car trip, lots of plugs to keep everyone’s devices fully charged. The car was as much a hit with the girls as the skiing.
Oh. Skiing in Spring you say? Yup. Hunter Mountain is only two hours north of NYC and the drive up was majestic. The Palisades Interstate Parkway, which runs through New York and New Jersey, offers views of New York City that can’t be matched. We even stopped in Kingston, New York to take pictures with a train caboose that had been converted into a travel office. Fun!
Your to-do list? Make sure you check out Hunter Mountain for a ski trip that won’t break the bank. And you’re gonna want to take that drive in a 2016 Kia Sorento. Obviously. I mean, Kia doesn’t call it the “perfect getaway vehicle” for nothing.
