On August 28th, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy will be celebrated with the creation of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial in Washington D.C.  To honor this event, Chevrolet has created a Table of Brotherhood Project and Brooklyn-based designer, Scott Benjamin Tucker has been tapped to construct it.

scott tuckerFrom Tucker:”I selected Sycamore wood as our material because like the immortalized words of Dr. Martin Luther King the tree is a symbol of strength, beauty and perseverance. My design will display these characteristics through the transformation of raw materials in to a hand tooled high polished dining table suitable for a gathering of the masses. It is my goal to create a work of art that not only honors the memory of one of history’s greatest leaders but pays homage to his dream and the hopes of millions for global unity.”
